Wellspring Family Resource - humanitarian work with world orphans, widows, the sick and the impoverished

Wellspring is a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been created from the hearts of folks like us who care about the living conditions, the education and the health of children and people worldwide. It was actually created by Joe Taylor and his daughter, Rachelle DeNecochea, to help serve the community of Chico. But through time, the passion grew and it now includes work in the USA, Kenya, Africa and future work in Vietnam.

We are a group of folks who believe humanitarian work is vital to one’s spirit, one’s understanding of our world, and vital to the on-going relationships with one another across the seas.

We seek to get our hands dirty, to provide funding, and provide resources where needed to those lives in the United States, Kenya and Vietnam. We hope to extend our work to wherever we are led and in whose lives we can make a difference.

Our work in Kenya is in progress as we speak. We are currently providing funds to have three Orphan Homes built in Gede, Kenya. A coastal village. It is about an hours flight east of the capital, Nairobi. These Orphan Homes will provide a very important and much needed service on two levels. Each Orphan Home will be headed up by two “grandmothers”, women willing to love and care for the kids. Each of these women will care for twelve children in all aspects, and in caring for these children, she will have resources, encouragement and help in raising these children to adulthood. Her income and sustainability will be in caring for and providing for these children as they continue to grow up. And secondly, each child in the home will again have parents and siblings to help care for and encourage one another. Each child will have a roof over their heads, food, continued healthcare, education, a place of community and a sense of purpose and being of themselves.

The children in Kenya that we are currently working with are in an orphanage that is run by members of their local community on land donated by the local church. At this time there are 14 children living in people's homes, but we are preparing to build the first Orphan Home along with a Kitchen/Dining Hall. This first home will house 24 children. Each home in the second and third phase will house an additional 24 children, helping meet the needs of the growing population of orphans in general (currently estimated to be 300 in the immediate area). While we don't know exactly how many of these children have HIV/AIDS or how many of their parents died from HIV/AIDS or related diseases, we are well aware of the impact this pandemic is having on the country.

Our work in the US is in the conceptual stage right now. We are looking to work alongside the Foster Care system, to help these kids lead productive and satisfying lives. We hope to provide a transitional program for those about to move from the Foster Care system into adulthood and working world. We're planning to begin this work in Chico and hope to continue as other communities need this sort of program.

Our work in Vietnam is also in the conceptual stage. We seek to work with street children and orphans, both those who are growing up in the orphanage system and those who are transitioning out of the orphanage and into adulthood. We are looking at working in the city of Danang for starters. We are investigating work alongside, MAPS (Maine Adoption Placement Services).

All that we are doing is for the future, our children. These children, regardless of what country they are from, are in great need of love, comfort, understanding, personal existence, education and a better life. We are working toward these mighty goals. We need all the help and support we can get.

If you would like to help support what we are doing, please .
Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you so much for your support in this work!
